Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana sliced
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar, maple syrup, or honey (to taste) optional
  • teaspoon vanilla optional

Instructions

  • Combine bananas, milk, water, and optional sweetener in a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Serve.

Notes

  • Use ripe, spotted bananas for the sweetest flavor.
  • The combination of milk and water gives a silky texture.
  • For a banana smoothie with a thicker texture, replace the water with more milk and add a few ice cubes.
  • Make sure the milk and water are cold. Banana milk tastes best when cold. If you want it even colder, serve it over ice.
  • Using frozen bananas will keep the drink colder, however it may thicken it somewhat.
  • Use a high-speed blender for a smooth, creamy texture.
  • Serve immediately – It will start to separate, and the bananas will begin to oxidize and brown quickly so make it just before you plan to drink it.
