Description

This Mangonada recipe (also known as Chamoyada or Chamango) is a sweet, frozen mango drink with a tangy, spicy swirl of chamoy, and a sprinkling of chile-lime seasoning.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup chamoy, divided
  • 1/3 cup tajin chili lime seasoning
  • 16oz mango chunks, frozen
  • 1 cup mango nectar or juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 fresh mango cut into small chunks for topping
  • 2 Tamarind candy straws, optional

Instructions

  1. Pour a little chamoy and tajin into two small saucers. Dip the rims of the glasses first into the chamoy and then into the tajin.
  2. In a blender, combine the frozen mango chunks, mango nectar or juice, lime juice, sugar, and ice. Blend until smooth. It will have the consistency between a smoothie and a sorbet.
  3. Swirl some chamoy on the insides of two 16oz glasses.
  4. Pour the mango mixture into the glasses.
  5. Top with chopped mango, a drizzle of chamoy, and a sprinkle of tajin.
  6. Serve with a tamarind straw.
