The Best Peach Iced Tea recipe!
This simple, homemade Peach Tea starts off with a beautiful, pink-hued Peach Syrup that’s bursting with the flavor of sweet, fresh peaches. The peach simple syrup is then combined with perfectly brewed tea in a pitcher, or add it individually to glasses of iced tea to taste. The perfect summer beverage!
If you love cooling off with fruity, refreshing drinks, try my Hawaiian Pog juice, fresh strawberry juice, or cherry lemonade. For something even colder, a frozen mangonada or banana milkshake will really hit the spot.
Why you’ll LOVE this homemade Peach Tea recipe
- Ice cold and refreshing
- Amazing sweet, peach flavor
- The taste of summer in a glass
- Super easy to make
- Only 3 ingredients (plus water)
- All natural
- Perfect for picnics and barbeques
Ingredients
- Peaches – simmered in a simple syrup to make the most amazing peach flavored syrup with a bright pink hue. Peaches with a deep red skin give the most vibrant color.
- Sugar– to make the simple syrup
- Tea – tea bags or loose tea. I’ve used black tea, but you can use green or white tea.
How to make
- Make a peach simple syrup
- Brew tea and let cool
- Combine the two and serve over ice
How to make peach syrup for tea
To make homemade peach syrup for iced tea, combine sugar, water, and sliced peaches in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, over medium-high then let simmer on low for 15-20 minutes, stir occasionally, pressing on the peaches with a wooden spoon to break them up.
Let the peaches and syrup cool, then strain the peach mixture through a fine mesh strainer. Pressing too firmly on the peaches will cause the syrup to be cloudy. The strained peaches can be reserved to served over oatmeal, ice cream, or on top of a goat cheese crostini (my fave!)
Pour the peach simple syrup into a bottle or jar and refrigerate until chilled. Store in the fridge for up to a week.
Brew the tea
While the peach syrup is simmering, brew the tea. I’ve used black tea here, but you can use green, oolong, or white tea.
Boil the water and brew the tea for 3 - 5 minutes – you can brew the tea in the same saucepan that you boil the water in, or boil the water in a kettle and brew the tea in a mason jar.
- In a sauce pan: bring the water to a boil, turn off the heat, and add the tea bags to the saucepan and let brew for 3-5 minutes.
- In mason jars: boil the water, add the tea bags to the jars (I use 2 bags per jar), pour in the boiling water, and let the tea brew for 3-5 minutes, depending on how strong you like it.
If you like your tea weaker or stronger, use less or more tea bags. However, don’t let the tea bags brew for more than 5 minutes or the tea will have a bitter taste.
Remove the tea bags, let the tea cool, then refrigerate until cold.
How to make Peach Tea
Pitcher method: Combine the chilled peach syrup and brewed tea in a pitcher, then pour over glasses of ice.
Individual glass method: Pour chilled brewed tea into glasses of ice, then let each person add peach syrup to taste.
FAQs
The peach syrup or peach tea will last up to 7 days in the refrigerator.
The tea and/or syrup can be frozen. I prefer to freeze the syrup and thaw it when I want to add it to freshly brewed and chilled tea. The syrup can also be frozen in ice cube trays and thawed individually. Peach Tea can also be used to make popsicles.
If you want to cut back on chilling time, boil only half of the water and brew the tea in it. (It will be double strength at this point.) Add the remaining cold water to the brewed tea.
Variations:
Sugar free – use a granulated sweetener of your choice in place of the sugar. My current fave is Lakanto Monk Fruit Sweetener with Erythritol.
Olive Garden’s Bellini Peach-Raspberry Iced Tea – To make Peach Raspberry Iced Tea, use a combination of peach syrup and raspberry syrup in the tea. Make raspberry syrup by simmering 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, and 1 lb raspberries for 30 minutes. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer without pressing down on the berries.
How to make with canned peaches – Prepare a simple syrup with 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water by bringing it to a boil and letting it simmer on low for 3 minutes. Let cool then add a 15oz can of peaches that have been pureed in a blender. Add peach syrup to tea to taste.
Peach Tea Lemonade – Add fresh lemon juice to taste after combining the tea and peach syrup.
Starbucks Iced Peach Green Tea – For a copycat Starbucks Peach Green Tea, use green tea bags instead of black tea.
Starbucks Iced Peach Green Tea Lemonade – use green tea and add fresh lemon juice to taste
Ginger Peach Tea – For a Peach Ginger Tea, add 1-2 thin slices of fresh ginger to the peach syrup when simmering
Mango Peach Tea – For a Peach Mango Tea, substitute the flesh of 1 mango for one of the peaches and simmer to make the syrup.
Peach Mango Green Tea - Substitute the flesh of 1 mango for one of the peaches and simmer to make the syrup. Use green tea instead of black.
Peach Oolong Tea – use Oolong tea bags.
White Peach Tea – use white peaches and add an optional teaspoon of vanilla.
White Peach Tea Lemonade – make the peach syrup with white peaches and add fresh lemon juice to taste after combining the tea and peach syrup.
Unsweetened – Peach Tea can be made without sugar. Just simmer the peaches in 1 cup of water and proceed with the recipe.
Peach Apricot Tea – substitute 3 apricots for one of the peaches when making the syrup.
Peach Mint Tea – add a handful of fresh mint leaves when brewing the tea.
